Eight common minerals are supplied to test hardness, color, streak, luster, specific gravity, and other characteristics. Each sample has been carefully selected to ensure that students can readily recognize key physical properties and achieve consistent test results. Each kit contains a streak plate, copper strip, glass plate, nail, magnifier, and graduated cylinder for physical tests, as well as a teacher’s guide and worksheet copymasters.
Minerals: calcite, feldspar, galena, graphite, hematite, muscovite, pyrite, and quartz.
The kit is also available for purchase with a link to a NewPath digital lesson, which includes a variety of resources on the topic, including background information, illustrations and self-assessments.
