Whatman Grade 4 Qualitative Filter Papers are a standard grade, high flow rate filter paper. They are useful in qualitative analytical separations when fast flow is required and the collection of fine particles is not critical.

A good quality paper recommended for student use and all routine filtering operations. This is a strong filter paper with a medium flow rate and retention.

Syringe filters are available with a choice of membrane type: Polyethersulfone (PES) for low protein binding and faster flow rates; surfactant-free cellulose acetate (SFCA), with or without prefilter, for lowest protein binding; Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) for chemical resistance; regenerated cellulose (RC) – the best choice for DMSO compatibility; and nylon (NY) which is hydrophilic, surfactant-free and lowest extractable.

Quantitative filter papers are used for gravimetric analyses or filtrations where the precipitate is to be recovered.

Suitable for filtration of aluminum phosphate, barium carbonate, lead chromate, and more.
