This pathogenic organism is sometimes isolated from hay and grass.

Produces streptomycin. Branching mycelium and coenocytic hyphae. 

This filamentous cyanobacteria is comprised of heterocysts and akinetes that are terminally located on the filament.

Isolated from the alimentary tract of cows. Lancefield group D, gamma hemolysis. May be pathogenic in humans. 

Capsules produced in milk. Psychrophilic (prefers low temperatures), produces yellow pigments. 

The presence of A. viscolactis in milk is a common cause for sliminess or "ropiness".

Freshwater. Filamentous. Unbranched, contorted filaments. Basic culture solution.

Shipped in a form that provides the best quality specimen. Most are supplied in 16 x 125 mm tubes, 2 oz. jars, or 8 oz. jars.

Isolated from human urinary tract and wound infections, this organism is identifiable by its characteristic putrefactive odor.

Frequent human isolate. Causes gastroenteritis.
