This organism is normal flora of human skin.

Normal flora of the mouth and throat. Lancefield group K, gamma hemolysis.

Beta hemolysis on blood. Causes wound infections and septicemia. 

Grows on dead tissues. Novobiocin resistant (S. epidermidis and S. aureus novobiocin sensitive). 

Noted for capsular swelling. Causes pneumonia and urinary tract infections.

Isolated from human urinary tract and wound infections, this organism is identifiable by its characteristic putrefactive odor.
