Science teacher Michael Calhoun developed this activity to help students explore the difficulty of predicting the advance of a developing hurricane.

The NYS investigations kits have been tested by local NYS teachers to make sure they work in the classroom.

In this inquiry-based learning case, students are on a high mountain climbing adventure and need to know what weather is in store for them, building a simple device in the process to help them predict the weather.

This kit provides students with the opportunity to make firsthand observations of mechanical weathering, chemical weathering, erosion, and deposition.
