Learn genetic engineering hands-on using the Engineer-It Kit™. The end result is that you have grown and engineered bacteria to produce something for you - a colorful bio-pigment. 1-color Engineer-It Kits™ typically come with a plasmid to produce purple pigment (substitution may be made based on availability). Full Rainbow Engineer-It Kit™ comes with enough material for 10 groups and each will get their own colored plasmid.

Additional equipment required but not included: Microwave or hot-plate, and Amino Labs DNA Playground™. (In the absence of a DNA Playground™, you will also need an ice bath, water bath, thermometer, timer, and incubator).

After you’ve completed any of the Engineer-It Kits™, you can use our follow-up kits, such as the Keep-it Kit™ to save your work, or Extract-it Kit™ to break open the cells and extract your engineered creation.
