This battery-powered rainfall data collection and recording system includes a data logger integrated into a tipping-bucket rain gauge. Automatically records up to 3200 mm (160") of rainfall data at rates up to 12.7 cm (5") per hour, which can be used to determine rainfall rates, times, and duration. Also records temperature when used with an optional solar radiation shield. A base station or shuttle is required.

The rain gauge housing is a 15.24 cm (6") aluminum bucket. The tipping-bucket mechanism features a stainless steel shaft with brass bearing. The rain gauge measures 25.72H×15.24Ø. cm (10.125×6"), with a 15.39 cm (6.06") receiving orifice. The data logger component features a polypropylene case, stainless steel screws, Buna-N O-ring, and PVC cable insulation.
