In this experiment, students will use PCRand electrophoresis to analyze simulated water samples for the presence of bacteria and viruses. By exploring how wastewater monitoring works, students will gain insight into how biotechnology plays a vital role in protecting public health.

 : You need: DNA Electrophoresis, Thermal Cycler, Micropipettes: 5 to 50 µl, Blue Light Transilluminator, White Light Box (optional - use if staining with FlashBlue™), microcentrifuge, and microwave or hot plate.

 : Includes instructions, PCREdvoBeads, LyphoPrimer mix, EdvoQuick DNA Ladder, DNA Templates, TE buffer, UltraSpec-Agarose, electrophoresis buffer (50×), SYBR™ Safe stain, FlashBlue™ DNA stain, microcentrifuge tubes and PCR tubes.
