The NYS investigations kits have been tested by local NYS teachers to make sure they work in the classroom.

Find all the materials needed to perform the NYS investigations right here. All materials have been carefully selected to meet the state requirements, and have been thoroughly tested by teachers to ensure they work in the activities.

This kit includes lots of materials fo constructing a calorimeter: 30 large, nestable paper containers, paper cups of different sizes, and 15 small (7.5 oz) beverage cans - without lids. The cans fit perfectly inside the paper containers, and the lightweight aluminum material minimizes the thermal mass of the device. Two different insulating materials are also included for students to experiment with. Both corn syrup and vegetable oil are included, and in large enough quanities for each group to use a little extra to improve their accuracy.
