Coordination complexes are brightly colored compounds consisting of a central metal atom and ligand molecules, atoms, or ions. Synthesize and purify a lime-green coordination complex called potassium ferrioxalate trihydrate in this multi-step synthesis and optionally analzye the complex via UV-Visible spectrophotometry.

Ordering information: Required but not included: 150 ml Glass beakers, funnels, hot plate stirrers, magnetic stir bars, thermometers, distilled or deionized water, laboratory scale, 25 or 50 ml graduated cylinders, tongs or heat-resistant gloves, forceps, spatulas, ice bath, 500 ml glass beakers, cuvettes [optional], UV-Visible spectrophotometer [optional].

Delivery information: Kit includes: Oxalic acid 0.5 M solution, 800 ml; Potassium oxalate 1.0 M solution, 225 ml; Hydrogen peroxide 3% solution, 225 ml; Ethanol, 95%, 150 ml; Ethanol, 50%, 225 ml; Sulfuric acid, 0.1 M, 25 ml; Ferrous ammonium sulfate hexahydrate, 50 g; 30× pipettes; 15× filter papers.
