With this kit, students use a traditional Appalachian recipe to make their own soap. That's the practical end. The science is the exothermic process and the questions the experiment raises about the effect of heat on a substance, what happens if the reaction does not run to completion or if improper techniques are used, and more. Makes about 300 small bars of soap. Includes materials for 30 students and instructions. Developed by Dale Holder.
