Students perform a series of investigations over several weeks to learn more about biodegradation of solid waste materials like paper, plastic, biodegradable plastic, natural and synthetic fibers, and more. Students study how decomposition occurs, the rate of decomposition, and the effects of different soils, temperature, and oxygen levels. The kit comes with enough materials for ten setups, a teacher’s guide, and student copymasters.
