Just a single plant tissue extract can be used for colorimetric tests of nitrogen, potassium, and phosphorus (fifty tests per factor), and all results can be quantified by trace, low, medium, or high concentrations.
The kit also comes with material for students to prepare their own plant tissue extracts. A soil handbook and all reagents and labware are supplied in a sturdy plastic case.
