Make working models for experimentation.

Explore the power of water by building models and conducting experiments using these devices. A waterwheel, a sawmill, and a hammer mill are constrcuted to harness the energy of moving water for different types of physical work. Students will also assemble a hydroelectric power station to generate electricity and light an LED. Water towers, communicating vessels, and a water fountain illustrate concepts of water pressure, while the accompanying experiments demonstrate surface tension, adhesion, and cohesion. Additional activities address the energy in ocean waves, tides, and rivers, and how we can harness and generate electricity from these water sources.
