The combined horizontal and vertical vegetation sampling available from this valuable tool enables your students to collect resource information both across the landscape and at different canopy levels. Using a mirror to project a view of the sample location point in the canopy above to the person holding the densitometer, it will provide accurate, objective, and repeatable measurements of cover for any element in a forested environment. Simply align the two bubble-line levels mounted inside to get an exact vertical line-of-sight into the canopy, then record the data point viewed through the centered cross hairs.
