The cross section segments reveal the outer and inner appearance of an artery as it progresses from normal to fatty streak to fibrous plaque and blockage. Each stage causes a further decrease in blood flow, which can lead to blood clots or thrombus. The model segments rotate on a hinge pin from the center mount for convenient viewing.
