Traumatic brain injury or TBI, occurs when there is a violent blow to the head and/or perforation of the brain tissue.

Symptoms of TBI can become apparent immediately after incident or gradually over time. Depending on the severity, these can range from cognitive, to behavioral, to mental and emotional manifestations, as well as physical and sensory impairments.
