The Microstirrer takes the place of the stirring bar that is typically used with a laboratory magnetic stirrer. The new Vernier Microstirrer easily attaches to the end of a pH Sensor, Conductivity Probe, Dissolved Oxygen Probe, or Ion-Selective Electrode. When the magnetic stirrer plate (required, but not included) is turned on, its magnetic field turns the paddle wheel of the Microstirrer, resulting in enhanced stirring near the electrode tip. The Microstirrer works with any magnetic stirrer.

Experiment with gear ratios on your wind turbine or other small projects. Adding gears to your turbine can greatly increase the generator RPM, giving you higher power output. The small 8-tooth gear fits on 2 mm driveshafts that are found on many DC generators. The gears have a keying feature that allows them to be changed quickly and easily using the included hex locks. Use the Time of Flight Pad to precisely measure how long a projectile has been in motion. The Time of Flight Pad is used with the Vernier Projectile Launcher and a Vernier interface to determine the launch speed of a projectile, along with the time the projectile is in flight. Time-of-flight measurements allow students to see just how kinematic calculations work in real-world applications. The Time of Flight Pad is electrically like a photogate. When a ball strikes the foam top surface, a circuit is closed.
