Reveal the Effects of Air Pollution on Animals and Plants
- A fume hood is recommended for this experiment
- Create acid rain
- Includes a teacher's guide
Create a mini-ecosystem and then perform a chemical reaction to produce sulfur dioxide. Students will learn how air pollution reacts in the atmosphere to produce acid rain and how that in turn affects the pH of water. They will also be able to observe the effects on the Daphnia and plants in the ecosystem. It is recommended that this lab be performed under a fume hood. The kit contains a teacher’s guide, student copymaster, and materials for 15 setups. Note: Coupon included for perishable materials. Redeem by phone or e-mail.
