Comparing Reaction Rates By Gas Collection Kit

If your students have ever questioned why some reactions go very quickly while others tend to take forever, this lab allows them to find out for themselves. Using a method that makes determining the “rate” of reaction simple and quantitatively accurate, students quickly see how varying concentration or temperature or adding a catalyst affects the rate of a reaction. Developed by Mary Gallup.

Includes materials for 30 students: 10 gas collection tubes, 10 rubber stoppers (00, 1-hole), 10 test tubes (15 mm x 125 mm), 500 ml 3% hydrogen peroxide, 500 mL 67% hydrogen peroxide, 500g manganese dioxide, 50mL glycerine, instructions.
