This kit addresses several different approaches for conducting a crime scene investigation. This scenario-based activity allows students to become detectives and determine who killed our beloved founder, Henry Ward, in a hit-and-run car accident almost 100 years ago. Students will solve this crime by utilizing various cross-curricular techniques including blood typing, forensic anthropology, fingerprint analysis, impression analysis for tires and shoes, hair analysis, blood spatter, and DNA evidence. While performing these activities, students are exposed to NGSS Life and Physical Science DCIs: LS1, LS2, LS3, LS4 and PS2.

This kit has been aligned with all published National Standards. Pre- and Post-laboratory assessments and vocabulary words all target specific Science and Engineering Practices and common core standards. Love it! - Who Killed Henry Ward is one of my favorite culminating activities. You can use it on it's own for a forensic science unit or class, or as a culminating experience. Also, great for CSI camps! This kit can be used for middle school and high school students. The bone activity is a bit of a stretch for the case, but is one way to work in forensic anthropology.
