Durable, probeware-ready track and cart system.

This low friction cart is designed to study motion and collisions on the Vernier Combination 1.2 m Track/Optics Bench. The Plunger Cart has a spring-loaded plunger and super-elastic trigger button that allows for new types of collisions.

The Motion Encoder Cart is a dynamics cart compatible with the Vernier Dynamics Cart and Track System. The Motion Encoder Cart replaces a motion detector when used for dynamics cart-on-track activities. An optical sensor beneath the dynamics cart senses the passage of the cart over a marked strip on the track. The position information is sent as an encoded IR signal to a receiver at the track’s end. By avoiding the possibility of stray sound reflections, this optical-only system provides excellent, repeatable, and noise-resistant motion data.

This encoder helps students explore kinematics, dynamics, momentum, and energy.
