Apparatus for measuring the time it takes for a ball to fall a certain distance using a digital timer. Very easy to set up and use but nevertheless highly accurate. Includes 3 steel balls. A micro-magnet holds the ball in its start position. Three contact pins under the release mechanism ensure that the start position of the ball can be reproduced and act as the contacts of a switch that opens when the ball is released, thus triggering the beginning of the timing measurement. When the ball strikes the contact plate at the bottom, the timer is stopped. The ball is also held firmly on the plate so that it does not bounce. The height through which the ball drops can be adjusted to a fraction of a millimeter and read off a scale on the column.

This model acts similarly to the Rabinion planetary gear of a modern vehicle. The complex principles of a planetary gear are unlocked with the use of color coded discs. Blue is used for the internal gear. Green is used for the pinion gear. Yellow is used for the sun gear. This model consists of 3 forward speeds and 1 reverse speed. The instructor or student manually operates this unit by locking by locking down a specific part of the gear using a fixed pin. Changes in rotation are visible when adjusting either the sun, pinion, or internal gear. A nomenclature panel is included on the front of the model for reference. This product is a model of a differential. This model permits the instructor and student to manually turn the handle and apply a load to the transparent wheels to demonstrate the differential mechanism.
In automotive mechanics, the differential gear arrangement permits power from the engine to be transmitted to a pair of driving wheels, which divides the force equally between them and permits them to follow paths of different lengths, as when turning a corner or crossing an uneven road. On a straight road, the wheels rotate at the same speed. When turning a corner, the outside wheel has farther to go and will turn faster than the inner wheel if unrestrained. The unique end plate on this rack allows you to create agar slant tubes at either 5° or 20° depending on which side you use. To create the slant tubes, simply autoclave the media tubes while they are in the rack, and after autoclaving, set the rack on the bench at the desired angle. The media will harden with a consistent slant. The rack is also useful for incubating liquid cultures on a slant.
