This Campus Lab Safety Essentials qualification is a fast-paced, foundational online training designed to prepare college students, teaching assistants, researchers, and laboratory employees for safe participation in academic science labs. The asynchronous, approximately three-hour curriculum uses multimedia lessons and case-based scenarios to build foundational competencies in identifying chemical, biological, and physical hazards; selecting appropriate personal protective equipment; interpreting hazard communication standards (GHS and biosafety); and applying effective emergency response procedures. The course emphasizes real-world decision-making for safe bench work with chemicals, biohazardous materials, and bloodborne pathogens, and ensures learners understand both institutional policies and federal regulatory frameworks before they enter the lab.
