Wood-built seed cleaner with two screens and a blower for removing impurities from all types of seeds.

  • Suitable for cleaning all cereal grains, pulses, oil seeds, and vegetable seeds; a versatile, multi-purpose tool for a wide range of agricultural and quality control applications
  • Two-screen system combined with a built-in blower enables a comprehensive, multi-stage cleaning process
  • Both the seed feed rate and the blower's air speed can be adjusted; provides the user with precise control, allowing the machine to be calibrated for different seed types and levels of impurity
  • Constructed from teak wood and teak ply, the machine is not only durable and resistant to vibration but also non-corrosive, ensuring the integrity and purity of seed samples throughout the cleaning process
  • Can be operated by a 0.5 HP electric motor or manually by hand - a dual power option to ensure the machine remains functional even in locations with limited or no electricity

The seed cleaner is a machine designed for the purification of agricultural samples. It is a highly specialized piece of equipment that operates on the principle of gravity and vibration to separate desirable seeds from various impurities. The machine's construction and operation are tailored for precision, ensuring the integrity of seed samples for purposes such as quality control, planting, and research.

Construction and Mechanism: The machine's construction from teak wood and teak ply is a notable feature. Teak wood is known for its durability, stability, and resistance to wear and tear, making it an excellent material for a machine that experiences constant vibration. This construction also ensures that the machine is non-corrosive and does not react with the seeds, maintaining the sample's purity. At the core of its functionality is a vibrating cradle driven by a 0.5 HP single-phase electric motor coupled with a gear mechanism. The motor provides the power, while the gear mechanism is responsible for converting the motor's rotation into the consistent vibrations required for separation. The ability to operate by both electricity and by hand offers versatility, allowing the machine to be used in locations where power might be unreliable or unavailable. The cleaning process is orchestrated by a two-screen system. The top screen, with a larger mesh size, is the first point of contact for the sample. Both the feed rate and blower speed are adjustable, giving the user precise control over the cleaning process to suit different types of seeds and levels of contamination.

Cleaning Process: The process begins when a sample is poured into the feed hopper. The adjustable feed rate ensures a steady, controlled flow onto the top screen. First-stage separation: As the sample vibrates on the top screen, any impurities—such as stones, large pieces of chaff, or other seeds larger than the desired sample—are retained. These larger impurities are then ejected via a semi-rectangular chute into a designated collection area. Second-stage separation: Seeds and smaller impurities that fall through the first screen land on the second screen. This screen is where the second phase of separation occurs. The in-built blower is crucial at this stage. It generates an air current that separates impurities based on their weight. Lighter impurities, such as husks and light chaff, are blown out and collected in a dual-section tray or the air removal tray. Final separation: Impurities that are smaller than the healthy seeds, such as dust, sand, or small dead seeds, pass through the second screen's mesh and are pushed out of a semi-circular chute on the opposite side. The clean, healthy seeds, now free of both larger and smaller impurities, are collected in a wooden tray located in the lower chamber.

The machine's design as a self-contained unit simplifies operation and maintenance. The inclusion of an air control lever and an air intake window allows for fine-tuning the air flow to match the specific characteristics of the seed being cleaned. This precision is essential for preventing the loss of healthy seeds and ensuring the most thorough cleaning. The use of gravity as a primary separation principle is highly effective and gentle on the seeds, minimizing damage. This machine is suitable for a wide range of agricultural products, including all cereal grains, pulses, oil seeds, and vegetable seeds, making it a versatile and indispensable tool for agricultural professionals.
