These slides are extremely difficult to decipher with the naked eye, and are labeled with a number-key to prevent students from guessing the answer without using the microscope.
Each set contains 5 slides, each with a different word printed on a piece of high quality paper. Have students read the word while keeping in mind the changes that the image undergoes due to the optics on the microscope. The words used in set 1 are different than those used in set 2.
