Leo’s Laundry Land would like to contract your class to consider the various factors that affect detergent performance. Students will test several brands of detergents that they bring from home, to determine their relative effectiveness and concentrations. Next they will vary the concentration, pH, and temperature for a provided brand of detergent to determine the optimal conditions to get the cleanest laundry. The easy, colorful procedure will provide quantitative results and will teach your students about the action of enzymes in a fun, engaging way. You will get enough materials for eight setups, a teacher’s guide, and student copy master.
