AcquaStain is a single-step protein gel dye. This novel product requires no pre-or post-treatment of the gel, requires about ten minutes to use for most applications, and yields sharp bands in seconds. AcquaStain is water-based and contains no harmful chemicals or acids, so it is much safer than standard dyes. It also causes no observable gel wrinkling or shrinkage, and can even be disposed of down a sink after staining. Better still, and unlike methanol-based stains, protein sensitivity approaches that of silver staining techniques. It can even be used for mass spectrometry.
