A pressure relief valve is the primary protection to personnel and equipment involved with static and dynamic pressured systems. The pressure relief valve is used to control or limit the pressure in a system or vessel which can build as a result of a process upset, instrument or equipment failure, or fire. The relief valve is designed or set to open at a predetermined set pressure to protect pressure vessels and other equipment from pressure that exceed their design limits.
