Mechanics Learning Activities
Avantor offers a complete catalogue of instruments and tools useful for demonstrating key, basic concepts of physics that are applicable to everyday life both in and out of the laboratory. Demonstrate core ideas such as acceleration down a plane, friction, potential and kinetic energy, electrical conductivity, magnetic fields, wavelengths and velocity of sound, and more. Durable educational materials are designed for heavy use with consistent levels of handling, and all models are easy to use.

Vernier® Time of Flight Pad
Use the Time of Flight Pad to precisely measure how long a projectile has been in motion. The Time of Flight Pad is used with the Vernier Projectile Launcher and a Vernier interface to determine the launch speed of a projectile, along with the time the projectile is in flight. Time-of-flight measurements allow students to see just how kinematic calculations work in real-world applications. The Time of Flight Pad is electrically like a photogate. When a ball strikes the foam top surface, a circuit is closed.

Planetary Gear Model
This model acts similarly to the Rabinion planetary gear of a modern vehicle. The complex principles of a planetary gear are unlocked with the use of color coded discs. Blue is used for the internal gear. Green is used for the pinion gear. Yellow is used for the sun gear. This model consists of 3 forward speeds and 1 reverse speed. The instructor or student manually operates this unit by locking by locking down a specific part of the gear using a fixed pin. Changes in rotation are visible when adjusting either the sun, pinion, or internal gear. A nomenclature panel is included on the front of the model for reference. These items are made special to order and are not held in stock. Lead times are approximately two to three months. Freight charges may apply. Dimention: 27V x 30W x 24H cm; Weight: 3 kg

Differential Model
This product is a model of a differential. This model permits the instructor and student to manually turn the handle and apply a load to the transparent wheels to demonstrate the differential mechanism.
In automotive mechanics, the differential gear arrangement permits power from the engine to be transmitted to a pair of driving wheels, which divides the force equally between them and permits them to follow paths of different lengths, as when turning a corner or crossing an uneven road. On a straight road, the wheels rotate at the same speed. When turning a corner, the outside wheel has farther to go and will turn faster than the inner wheel if unrestrained. These items are made special to order and are not held in stock. Lead times are approximately two to three months. Freight charges may apply.

Wankel Engine, Rotary Model
This product is a model of a wankel engine. The transparent plastic housing enables the students to see the internal structure at all angles. The rotor starts moving when the switch is turned on. It is powered by 110V AC. These items are made special to order and are not held in stock. Lead times are approximately two to three months. Freight charges may apply. Dimentions: Size: 15L x 20W x 28H cm ; Weight: 3 kg

Planetary Gear Demonstrator
This product is a small-sized model unit used for explaining the principle of a planetary gear. By setting the internal sun and pinion gears into motion (input or fixed), you can get the different outputs from acceleration, deceleration and reverse. Comes equipped with a storage case holding 10 Planetary Gear Demonstrators. These items are made special to order and are not held in stock. Lead times are approximately two to three months. Freight charges may apply. Dimentions: 24L x 14W x 14H cm ; Weight: 3kg

Hybrid System Model
We all wish we had our own hybrid automobile to take apart, re-purpose, and use to show others exactly how this fascinating piece of technology works. Just because this may not be a possibility for you doesn't mean you can communicate the basics of hybrid technology.
