Instead of using diagrams or drawings, students can study the physical characteristics of bacterial DNA right in the lab. With the included macromolecular solution, students compare the similarities between the properties of long, linear-chain macromolecules and those of DNA. Most important, the lab activity can be performed in complete safety since Halobacterium salinarium lyses in water for easy extraction of DNA. The lab activity may be completed in 15 minutes or less. The class size comes with enough materials for six setups. Both sizes include a teacher’s guide and student copymaster.
