Foundation was recently honored with the Corporate Champion for Girls Award by Girls Inc. of Greater Philadelphia & Southern New Jersey during the 2025 Strong, Smart & Bold Celebration held in Philadelphia. The award recognizes the Foundation’s commitment to expanding STEM education and creating opportunities for young women to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
Accepting the award on behalf of the Foundation was Allison Hosak, Senior Vice President of Global Communications and Brand at Avantor and Avantor Foundation Board Member. “The Avantor Foundation has proudly supported Girls Inc. of Greater Philadelphia & Southern New Jersey’s Eureka! program because we believe in what you do deep in our core,” Hosak said.
Through a decade-long partnership, the Avantor Foundation has supported Girls Inc.’s Eureka! program with grants enabling the development of STEM curriculum across multiple disciplines, including engineering, chemistry and forensic science. These initiatives aim to build students' confidence and interest in pursuing STEM careers.
A 2023 grant funded the creation of a dedicated STEM Lab at Girls Inc.'s South Philadelphia location, providing students with hands-on learning opportunities in areas such as bioengineering, environmental science and digital literacy.
In addition to grants, Avantor has donated STEM education kits and back-to-school supplies to support Girls Inc. students, helping to ensure they have the tools and resources needed to succeed in the classroom and beyond.
“The Avantor Foundation’s partnership has enabled us to expand our STEM programming and inspire more girls to explore opportunities in science and technology,” said Erin Elman, CEO of Girls Inc. of Greater Philadelphia & Southern New Jersey.
Avantor’s investment in Girls Inc. reflects the Foundation’s broader mission to advance STEM education and improve healthcare access for underserved communities worldwide.
