Increase Awareness of the Waste and Recycling Potential in Your Classroom
- Students make their own paper from recycled material
- Includes a teacher's guide
- Estimated class/lab time required: 30 - 45 minutes plus drying time
Your students will have fun making paper, while at the same time, they will be learning about the costs and benefits of recycling paper. They will keep track of the amount of waste paper generated each day in the classroom and calculate the yearly waste for the classroom, as well as for the entire school. Then, students will make their own recycled paper from waste paper that they collect prior to the lab. By the end of the lab activity, students will be able to consider other materials or methods of recycling. All of the items provided in the kit can be reused. You get enough materials for 15 setups, a teacher’s guide, and student copymaster. Time requirement is 30-45 minutes to create the paper with additional time required for drying paper (will vary according to drying method).
