Hydra littoralis (or similar species) are the most widely studied Coelenterate, demonstrating typical Cnidarian structure and feeding habits. Hydra are easy to maintain, simply feed your specimens immature brine shrimp and daphnia and provide clean water after feeding. Hydra are sized up to 1/8".
Vital-Stained Hydra are stained blue. The structures of the vital-stained brown hydra are easier to observe than cultures without stain. Budding Brown Hydra Cultures show asexual reproduction by budding. Approximately 25-50% of the culture will be budding. Mixed Hydra contains both brown hydra green hyrdra (Chlorohydra viridissima). Green hydra is a smaller variety of hydra. It's green color comes from a symbiotic relationship with green algae.
