Simulate an Actual Blood Typing Experiment!

Using Ward's exclusive completely safe and nontoxic Simulated Blood, students can simulate an actual blood typing experiment and also delve into the concepts of Rh typing. Upon completion of this kit an unknown sample of blood will be typed. During this process, students will employ the basic science framework concepts of Structures and Properties (LS1) and Heredity (LS3) in order to examine the risks of Rh incompatibilities and view red and white “blood cells” under a microscope.
This kit has been aligned with all published National Standards. Pre- and Post- laboratory assessments and vocabulary words all target specific Science and Engineering Practices and Common Core Standards. The teacher guide also contains specific “Did You Know” concepts that link the real works with the scientific standards explored. A student copymaster is also included.
Ordering Information: This kit includes one bottle each of Ward's Simulated Blood Mr. Smith, Ward's Simulated Blood Mr. Jones, Ward's Simulated Blood Mr. Green, Ward's Simulated Blood Ms. Brown, Simulated Anti-A Serum, Simulated Anti-B Serum and Simulated Anti-Rh Serum. It also includes 48 Blood Typing Slides, 200 Toothpicks, 1 Package of Microscope Slides and 1 Package of Coverslips. Materials NOT included but required are a Compound Microscope (400X magnification) and markers. Part A requires 30 minutes, and Part B requires 20 minutes.
