A series of beakers set on ring stands set against a chart depicting leeward and wayward sides of a mountain and the Orogrphic Effect helps students understand relative humidity as it pertains to air temperature. Water capacity and volume of air increases with an increase in air temperature, however, air density decreases with air temperature. As the air is forced upward over a mountain range, it cools, causing water vapor to condense and rain out. As the air flows down the other side of the mountain, it warms, promoting evaporation and creating a desert climate. Developed by science teacher, Tom Hoolihan, this simple demonstration is extremely effective in demonstrating a complex concept. Includes instructions.
