A Space Colony: Expedition to Mars Game
Students Learn By Leading an Interplanetary Adventure
What is required to sustain human life on Mars? Answer this question through creative play in this exciting game. Each student is designated as a commander commissioned to establish a colony on Mars, discovering the fundamentals of survival for their fellow crew members — food, water, oxygen, and more. Game play takes place on an actual survey map of Mars, based on the most recent NASA data. The realistic game board covers 2/3rds of Mars’ surface, from 65°N to 65°S, highlighting Olympus Mons, Valles Mariner, and other sites of interest. As students establish their colony, they will discover the interdependence of scientific, technological, social, economic, and political factors necessary for successful human explorations of other planets.
