Combine the art of making adobe with the science of soil in this activity designed by teachers. Students are introduced to key concepts in soil classification as they collect soil evidence and make their own adobe bricks. The multi-part exercise also integrates math, social studies, art, and language arts skills. The kit includes enough soil and sand samples, sediment comparator cards, magnifiers, pipets, and adobe casting trays for five setups, as well as a teacher’s guide.
