Students can identify unknown substances by learning about the property, or group of properties that are unique to each substance. The five activities provide safe, clear, and colorful results to illustrate that sulfides, sulfites, sulfates, and carbonates of different ions can be identified by certain characteristics. Students will be able to identify the ions when they observe how each reacts with other substances. They will also learn that each product has distinctive properties as well. You will receive enough materials for 50 students, as well as a teacher’s manual and student worksheets.
