| Explore the Length, Frequency, and Velocity of Sound Waves |
Just fill the water reservoir and strike the the 31 1/2″ transparent plastic tube with a tuning fork. Lower the water level until the tone reaches maximum loudness, then record the length of the air column. Repeat this experiment with the reservoir in lower positions to show how the placement affects the point at which maximum loudness is achieved. You can use tuning forks of different frequencies to expand the scope of this activity. Instructions are included; a tuning fork, required, is available separately.
