Natural Selection Experiment |
| Duplicate the Famous “Peppered Moth” Evolution Study in the Lab |
This activity is an easy and realistic way to illustrate Darwin’s Theory of Natural Selection, as well as an excellent activity to discuss the effects of pollution. Students will act as the predators of simulated moths. The nine varying color intensities and squares of varying sizes that simulate the environment will enable students to conduct simple quantitative exercises. Using the data they collect, students will be able to relate the theory of natural selection to the actual event that occurred in the peppered moth populations. It includes materials for 30 students, instruction manual, and student data charts.
