Contour Line Demonstrator and Lab Activity |
| Relate Contour Lines to Three-Dimensional Landforms |
Students are able to make the spatial leap between a two-dimensional map and a three-dimensional landform with this lab activity. To present this concept you place a clear, graduated version of your student’s landform model on the overhead projector and draw the outline on the board. To illustrate the spatial relationship, you will add a measured volume of colored water and then draw the new outline on the board. When the exercise is finished your students will have a complete topographical map based on the three-dimensional model sitting in front of them. The activity includes a teacher’s guide and enough materials for 15 setups.
