When students study the heavy plastic overlay of the two-piece model, they see how a glacier is formed and learn its different parts. The base of the model, which is revealed when the overlay is removed, shows post-glacial mountain terrain. For a hands-on lesson in rock and debris deposits, students can make their own sand, gravel, and crushed ice “glacier” on the base form. You will also receive a teacher’s guide with instructions.
