This easy-to-assemble model demonstrates the molecular structure, base pairing, the double helix ladder, and DNA replication. First, students will construct separate models of thymine, adenine, cytosine, guanine, and the sugar-phosphate backbone; and then they will construct the double helix ladder using one colored ball to represent each of the base molecules. They can also build the model in the unfolded shape to simulated DNA replication. It includes instructions. Average size of base molecules: 13″ x 10″; size of finished DNA helix model on stand: 6″L x 6″W x 18″H.
